Mambo Cabaret is an entertaining show for adults and children alike. Flamboyant ladyboy dancers perform a mix of comedy and Las Vegas style cabaret show. Before the show starts, you can enjoy an authentic Thai dinner and watch a performance of Thai classical dance.
Ladyboy Cabaret Show
Many of the dancers are ladyboys, called kathoeys in Thailand. With their graceful moves, feminine figures and stunning dresses, it can be hard to believe they were once males.
Acts from countries around the world
The Mambo Cabaret show presents acts, dance and songs from different cultures around the world. The show is a mix of traditional and modern pop songs from countries as Thailand, Korea, China and Western countries.
Mix of comedy and Las Vegas style show
The one hour show is a mix of traditional, modern, funny and elegant acts.
The acts follow each other smoothly. While some of the acts are slow and graceful, others are fast, high energy songs. Dancers wearing traditional dress present the culture of various countries through traditional songs.
There are also several humorous acts. In one of them, a male member of the audience is dragged on the stage to participate, getting a lot of laughs from the audience.
Flashy outfits & ostrich feathers
Mambo Cabaret is an extravaganza of bright colors, over the top dresses, long eyelashes, extravagant make up and feather headdresses.
Fun to watch for young and old, the light hearted show is a display of glittering dresses, flashy make up, fancy hair pieces, spangle and feathers.
Your photo with the dancers
Taking photos or recording video is not allowed during the show. After the show the dancers line up at the theater lobby. If you want, you can take your photo with the ladyboys. Be aware that a tip of 100 Baht per ladyboy in the photo is expected.
Thai classical dance and dinner
Before the Mambo Cabaret shows starts you can enjoy a traditional Thai dinner and watch a performance of classical Thai dance. Dinner and dance are at the Nopparat Thai classical dance and restaurant, right next to the Mambo Cabaret theater.
Authentic Thai dinner
The restaurant serves well presented authentic Thai food. The various dishes are brought to the table in small cups. With dishes as Tom Yum Goong and curries there is a good variety of tastes. Drinks are not included.
Classical dance
During dinner you can watch several traditional Thai dances. Young girls dressed in colorful costumes making slow and very elegant moves, perform dances from various regions of Thailand. The dances are accompanied by music played on traditional Thai instruments.
One of the dances is a hill tribes dance. The dancers wear the traditional clothing of the hill tribes that live in North Thailand.
Khon masked dance
In previous times only performed in the Royal Court, you can watch a Khon masked dance. The dance tells a story from the Ramakien, the Thai version of the Indian epic Ramayana. It is a classic tale of good versus evil.
The dancers wear very intricately adorned costumes and masks. The emotions of the scene are conveyed through elegant expressions made with the fingers, hands, feet and body.
Location and how to get there
Mambo Cabaret is located at 59/28 Yannawa Road, Yannawa district in Bangkok. The theater is right next door to Nopparat Thai classical dance and restaurant.
There is no BTS Sky Train or MRT subway in the area.
The easiest way to get there is by metered taxi. To easily get a taxi for the way back to the hotel, download the Uber app or GrabTaxi app on your phone.
If you’re close to the theater, you can also take a tuk tuk.
Show times
The Mambo Cabaret Show is performed twice a day.
The first show starts at 19:15, the second at 20:30.
Thai classical dance and dinner start at 17:30 and 19:30.
