An igloo and a couple of penguins at the Ice Dome, Frost Magical Ice of Siam

Frost Magical Ice of Siam

Frost Magical Ice of Siam in Pattaya offers the opportunity to experience the cold of the Arctic in a tropical country. Temperatures in the Ice Dome are a chilling -10 degrees Celsius, while at the outdoors section temperatures are some 40 degrees higher.

Siam Heaven, the Ice Dome

The indoors section called Siam Heaven or Ice Dome feels like the Arctic with its below zero temperatures and ice sculptures of polar bears, penguins and an igloo, a snow house of the Inuit people living in the Arctic. In -10 degrees Celsius temperatures you will also find some typical Thai items, like an ice sculpted tuk-tuk.

The constantly changing light colors give the Ice Dome extra atmosphere. Take fun photos sitting in an ice tuk-tuk or igloo, posing with a snowman or sliding down from an ice slide. Be careful walking on the slippery ice. Get your complementary soft drink served in an ice glass at the ice bar.

After the arctic temperatures of the Ice Dome, warm up with some hot coffee or tea in the restaurant.

The outside area, Himmapan forest

At the outside area you will find large sand sculptures, all in white, so it looks like they are covered in snow. After dark spotlights illuminate the sculptures.

The area called Himmapan is named after the legendary Himmapan forest. In Buddhist and Hindu mythology the forest surrounds Mount Meru, the center of the universe. The forest is inhabited by many mythological creatures, trees and plants.

Mythological creatures

The animals that live there have characteristics of several animals combined in them, such as a horse with the head of a bird and a fish with the head of an elephant. A few of the mythological creatures you will find are a pair of flying elephants known as Karin Puksa and a Winged Ghilen, a dragon like animal with wings and claw feet.

The fruits of the Nariphon tree growing in the forest are shaped like young women. Other sculptings depict characters from Thai folklore and from the Ramayana, a famous Thai epic.

A plaque at each of the sculptures details information in English and Thai about the creatures.
