Phuket Botanic Garden
Phuket botanic garden houses a collection of various species of colorful plants and flowers. It’s a nice place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature for a few hours. Over thirty themed gardens display a good variety of exotic plants and flowers.
Take a relaxing stroll through the gardens, feed the Koi carps in the pond and enjoy the tranquility of the gardens.
Over 30 zones
Phuket botanic garden is divided in over thirty zones. Each zone like the orchid pavilion, herb garden and cactus garden is dedicated to a type of plant. Signs across the garden direct to the various zones.
Herb garden
This garden houses various herbal and medicinal plant species. Here you can also learn about the use of herbs in Thai daily life and the health benefits of various herbs.
Rice field & Thai farmer house
This zone shows how Thai farmers used to live in gone by days when they produced almost everything they needed themselves.
A rice paddy and a simple bamboo house with a vegetable garden show how farmers grow rice and how they lived. Often farmers also have farm animals as chickens and pigs as well as a pond with fish.
Orchid garden & pavilion
Thailand is home to many species of orchids in a wide variety of colors. Many are found in the jungles of the North like Doi Inthanon National Park.
Orchard
Thailand has a rich variety of delicious fruits. The fruit orchard houses fruiting trees with some of the best known fruits as mangosteen, banana, mango, lychee and jackfruit.
You can also try some fruit juice here if you like.
Cactus garden
The cactus garden houses a desert plant greenhouse where various species of succulent plants and cacti are grown. The zone shows how plants were able to survive with very little water by adapting to the very dry environment.
Winter garden
The winter garden is an air conditioned, indoor garden. It houses plants from the mountainous areas of North Thailand where the average temperatures are a lot lower than in the rest of the country.
Water lily garden
The water lily garden houses various species of colorful water lilies and lotus flowers.
The lotus flower plays an important role in several cultures. In Hinduism, the God Brahma is often depicted sitting on a lotus flower. Buddhist stories tell how the Buddha was able to walk right after birth and that wherever he placed his foot, a lotus flower emerged.
Tropical garden
This zone is a dome that houses plant varieties found in the jungle.

Pond with Koi carp
A nice place to relax for a while is the pond with water lilies, lotus flowers and fish like Koi carp. You can buy a pack of fish food for 20 Baht if you like to feed them.
Spirit Houses
Across the garden you will see several spirit houses. These intricately adorned small houses standing on pillars are meant to appease the local spirits.
Food & drinks
Food, drinks and ice cream are available at the garden restaurant. There is a souvenir shop at the exit.
Research center
Adjoining the botanical garden is a research center for rare plant species.

Phuket botanic garden is located at 98/89 Moo 4, Chao Fa Road 48 in the Chalong area of Phuket.
The garden is close to Wat Chalong.
How to get there
The easiest way to get to the garden is by Grab taxi or tuk tuk. Agree on price and duration before leaving.
