Zoo Aquarium
Chiang Mai Zoo Aquarium is the home of thousands of animals from various continents. A large aquarium inside the zoo houses countless fish and other aquatic animals.
Children will have fun feeding animals as goats, sheep and giraffes.
Zoo
At the 200 acre zoo visitors can see animals from all over the world including two giant pandas from China. Go to the scenic point to get some great views of the place.
Tram ride
As the zoo is quite large and the terrain hilly here and there, walking across the entire zoo can get a bit strenuous in the heat of the day. A relaxed way to get around the zoo is to take an open tram ride.
Animals from all over the world
Chiang Mai zoo houses animal species from across the world.
Among the animals from the African continent are elephants, rhinos, hippos, giraffes, zebras, camels and several deer species. Among the big cats are lions, tigers and leopards.
Other animals that can be seen in the zoo are kangaroos, baboons, otters, large hamsters, bears, peacocks, alligators, orangutans, ostriches, tortoises, marmots, porcupines, Humboldt penguins, seals, swans, Malayan tapirs and flamingos.

Bird park
The bird park looks like a small jungle with a stream running through it and a small waterfall. Here you can see among others cranes, very colorful parrots from the Amazone rainforest and several species of tropical birds and giant spiders.
Aquarium
The aquarium houses thousands of aquatic animals of several hundred species. Both freshwater and saltwater fish and other aquatic animals and reptiles live in two large fish tanks and a large number of smaller tanks.
One of the huge fish tanks is the habitat for seawater fish like rays, various species of sharks, clownfish, lionfish, turtles, boxfish, groupers, electric eels and jellyfish.
The other tank houses freshwater fish like sturgeons, arapaima and giant Mekong catfish.
Underwater tunnel
Highlight of the aquarium is the underwater tunnel. Walking through it is like walking on the ocean floor surrounded by water and fish like rays, sharks, groupers and countless smaller fish that swim by at a very small distance. The 150 meter long tunnel cuts through both the freshwater and seawater aquarium.
Pandas
One of the main attractions of Chiang Mai Zoo Aquarium is its giant pandas from China. Two of these beautiful animals live in an air conditioned enclosure.

Snow Dome
Enjoy a unique experience in North Thailand in the Snow Dome, where the temperature is just below zero degrees Celsius. Slide down the snowy slope in a tube in a winterly landscape with snowmen.

Location
Chiang Mai Zoo Aquarium is located at 100 Huay Kaew Road in Chiang Mai between Chiang Mai town and Doi Suthep mountain.
How to get there
The most comfortable way to get there is by taxi. Alternatively take a tuk tuk which will cost about 100 Baht or get on a red songthaew from the center of town towards Doi Suthep at about 50 Baht per person.
Opening hours
Chiang Mai Zoo Aquarium opens daily.
Monday through Friday from 10 am until 4 pm.
On weekends and public holidays from 9 am until 4:30 pm.

Child rate: height 90 - 135 centimeters
