Historical river area

As life was centered around the river in previous centuries, many of Bangkok’s historical sites are located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. The Meridian cruise ship floats past some of the city’s oldest and most famous sites in the historical Rattanakosin district.

Route & sights

The Meridian dinner cruise departs from ICONSIAM, Bangkok’s most luxurious shopping mall. From there, the ship heads North floating past high rise buildings like the Millennium Hilton and Banyan Tree Residences.

Two less known but worthwhile sites are the catholic Santa Cruz Church and the Buddhist Wat Kalayanamit temple. Soon after, the brightly illuminated Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn, comes into sight. Then, on the other side of the river, stands the Grand Palace, Bangkok’s most famous site.

The Meridian cruise ship turns around at Rama VIII bridge and sails all the way South to Asiatique the Riverfront, a shopping, dining and entertainment complex. Docked here is the Sirimahannop, a large three mast sailing ship turned into a restaurant. There the ship turns around again, heading back to ICONSIAM.
