Loy Nava Dinner Cruise
Loy Nava is a luxury dinner cruise on a restored antique rice barge. Enjoy an evening of delicious Thai cuisine, classical Thai dance, river scenery and famous landmarks in a relaxed atmosphere. Diners have a choice of a sunset dinner cruise and a candle light night cruise.
Restored teak wood barge
The Loy Nava cruise ship is a beautiful dark teak wooden boat, a converted antique rice barge. With a maximum of just seventeen tables, the cruise has a much more intimate feel than the large, modern boats.
There is no air conditioning on the boat. The barge is open on all sides, allowing diners to enjoy the cool evening river breeze.
Luxury cruise
Experience the relaxed atmosphere on the river by night on the luxury Loy Nava barge. As there is a maximum of seventeen tables on the boat, service is more personal than on the large, modern cruise ships.
The food is served to the table, while Loy Nava staff point out the most important sites the boat floats by.
There is no loud music on the cruise. Diners can watch a performance of classical Thai dance accompanied by soft music played on traditional instruments.
Dinner
Unlike most cruises on the Chao Phraya river, there is no need to queue for buffet. The food is served to the table. The food is served in modest portions, allowing diners to try many different dishes. If you like a specific dish, you can order more.
Each menu starts off with a plate of several appetizers. Then follow the entrées, a soup, main dishes and a good selection of Thai desserts like banana with pancake, sweet taro bird nest, Thai seasonal fruits, Thai fruit jelly and mango sticky rice.
Water, tea and coffee are included, other drinks are not.
Dinner Menu
Diners have a choice of traditional Thai, seafood or vegetarian menu.
Each menu presents a good mix of the various tastes in Thai cuisine like sweet, sour, spicy and salty. Each menu consists of hors d’oeuvres, a soup, main courses and desserts plus tea or coffee. All main dishes are served with white or brown rice.
Thai traditional menu
The Thai traditional menu consists of among others Tom Yum Goong (hot and sour soup with shrimp), barbecued chicken or pork satay, sous-vide marinated chicken, Massaman curry, green curry with chicken, stir fried vegetables in oyster sauce, sticky rice mango with coconut cream, Thai roti and salad with seasonal Thai fruits and berries.
Thai seafood menu
With the Thai seafood menu come among others salmon spring rolls, marinated sea fish, seared tuna, Tom Yum Goong, grilled prawns and New Zealand mussels, deep fried shrimp cakes, salad with deep sea scallops, stir fried vegetables in oyster sauce, sticky rice mango with coconut cream, Thai roti, Khanom Chan (Thai flag jelly), salad with seasonal Thai fruits and berries and pineapple and pineapple sweets.
Thai vegetarian menu
The Thai vegetarian menu consists of among others BBQ vegetable satay in peanut sauce, vegetable spring rolls with plum sauce, seared tofu, marinated vegetables, soup of seasonal Thai vegetables, green curry with coconut cream and tofu, yellow curry with seasonal Thai vegetables, salad of three pulses with sweet tamarind sauce, mixed stir fried vegetables, sticky rice mango with coconut cream, Khanom Chan (Thai flag jelly), salad with seasonal Thai fruits and berries, pineapple and pineapple sweets.

Classical Thai Dance
During the two hour cruise diners can watch several Thai cultural performances.
Young girls wearing colorful, beautifully adorned traditional Thai dress perform classical Thai dance. Accompanied by music played on traditional instruments, the girls with their elegant, slow and graceful moves perform the traditional dances of several regions in Thailand.
Sites on the river banks
During the cruise diners will see a number of historical and modern landmarks, as well as watch daily life on the river. Everyone receives a booklet that lists details about the landmarks on the Chao Phraya river banks. Loy Nava staff point out the most important sites the boat floats by.
Historical sites
Among the historical sites on the Chao Phraya river banks are the East Asiatic Company building, the Royal Barges Museum, the Old Customs House, the Supatra River House and the Portuguese Embassy building.
Temples & churches
A few of the temples and churches on the route are Wat Rakang, Holy Rosary Church, Santa Cruz church and Wat Kalayanamitr.
Modern architecture
Modern landmarks include the River City Shopping Complex, Rama VIII bridge and luxury hotels as the Hilton and the Sheraton.
Bangkok’s most famous landmarks
The historical district Rattanakosin houses Bangkok’s most famous landmarks. Here you will see the Wat Arun, the Grand Palace and the Wat Pho, beautifully lit up at night.
The barge will also float by two old forts that once protected the city, Wichai Prasit Fort and Phra Sumen Fort.
Departure pier & time
The Loy Nava dinner cruise departs from Si Phraya Express boat pier No 3, next to the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel on Charoen Krung Road Soi 30.
There are two cruises daily.
The first departs at 18:00, the second at 20:10.
Check in is 15 minutes prior to departure time.
Getting to the pier
You can get to the pier by River Express Boat, taxi or tuk tuk.
There is no BTS Sky Train or MRT Subway station in the area.

You can take a River Express Boat on the orange, yellow or green line to the Si Phraya boat pier. Make sure to check the boat time table, some of the express boat lines stop service early.

Alternatively, take a metered taxi or if you’re not far from the pier, take a tuk tuk.
