Mallika City
Mallika City is a replica of a small Thai town as it looked in 1905. Its inhabitants wear the clothing of the time. Here you can see the way the people of Siam lived in the city and in rural areas over a hundred years ago.

Travel back in time
Travel back in time and feel like being an inhabitant of the old town. Get dressed in the clothing of 1905 and use coins with a hole in the center called satang, the money of those days.
All the buildings in Mallika City are in the style of over a century ago. In the town you can see several types of traditional Thai houses, each reflecting its owner’s social status and wealth. There are also a city tower, a shopping area, structures as a turnable bridge as well as beautiful gardens and a small rice field with a mill.

Visitors can feel like living in 1905 Siam by dressing up in the colorful costumes the Siamese people wore back then. Clothing is for rent at the city entrance. In Mallika City you can see several types of traditional Thai houses, each reflecting its owner’s social status and wealth.
Single traditional Thai house Reuan Dieow
The Reuan Dieow is the traditional house where farmers and laborers used to live. There is a rice field here and a mill, where you can watch how rice was grown and processed.
Wealthy traditional Thai house Reuan Khahabodi
This was the house where rich people lived. Here you can watch several old handicrafts like fruit and vegetable carving or decoration of food with banana leaves and flowers. In the kitchen you can see how people cooked food over a century ago.
Clustered traditional Thai house Reuan Hmoo
This was the house where rich people welcomed their guests who were shown performances of traditional Thai dance and Khon Masked dance. Today, visitors of Mallika City can have dinner and watch classical dance shows in the Reuan Hmoo.
Floating house Reuan Pae
Since at the time goods were mostly transported by boat, shops were housed in floating buildings called Reuan Pae on the river banks.
Market, City tower & turnable bridge
Turnable bridge
A turnable bridge called Saphan Han in Thai is a bridge that was fixed to the river bank on one side only, so it could be turned to let boats pass. Later during the reign of King Rama V who traveled to Europe, its style was inspired by the bridges of Venice, Italy.

An old style observation tower. Climb to the top to get an overview of Mallika City and the surrounding area.
Other things to do & see
Try milling rice at the old mill as it was done over a hundred years ago, take a walk in the beautiful gardens or take a rickshaw ride through the old city.
Lunch buffet
Lunch buffet is from 11 am until 2 pm.
There is a good choice of Thai dishes like Thai rice noodles, green chicken curry, banana stalk spicy salad, stir fried mixed vegetables, deep fried wrapped pork and vegetables with dipping sauce.
After the main course, try some desserts like coconut ice cream, sweet scented cocoon dessert or rice dumplings in sweet coconut cream.

Dinner
After the starter there are main dishes as chicken Massaman curry, herbal spicy pork soup, grilled mackerel and chili dip, Dewei salad and fried chicken in pandan leaf pockets. After the main course, there are several desserts and fresh seasonal fruits.
During dinner visitors can watch performances of traditional Thai dance, Khon masked dance and martial arts.
Khon masked dance
Khon masked dance tells a story from the Ramayana epic, a story about the battle of good versus evil. Dancers wearing colorful costumes and elaborately decorated masks convey the emotions of the scene with elegant moves made with fingers, hands, feet and body.
Classical Thai dance
Also watch several classical Thai dance performances from various parts of Thailand accompanied by music played on traditional instruments like the Sat Chatri dance, Pan dance and the Gliding Kinnaree dance.
Dinner is served between 6 pm and 8 pm. The show starts at 7 pm.
Location & how to get there
Mallika City is located at 168 Moo 5, Singh subdistrict, Sai Yok district, Kanchanaburi. The town is found on Route 323 (Sangchuto Road), about 30 kilometers from Kanchanaburi town. Easiest way to get there is by taxi from Kanchanaburi town.
Opening hours
Mallika City opens daily from 9 am until 7 pm. Buffet lunch, dinner & show are available every day except Tuesday.
It can get crowded on weekends and Thai national holidays.
